One of our primary services is to reclaim the lost performance all computers suffer over time. We call it Computer Optimizing or a tune-up. This process can literally take 6 to 8 hours depending on the condition of the operating system and the natural speed of the computer. A tune-up addresses both hardware and software performance. Remembers your computer is only as fast as your slowest component and a sluggish computer may overwork the CPU and memory due to bottlenecks in the flow of data throughout the system. Obiously you don't want a technician in your home for 6 to 8 hours! In some severe cases our tech my bring you computer back to our facility for optimizing. Don't worry your technician will deliver your computer back in 24 to 48 hours. He or she will set it up, test your printer, test your internet and your email before he or she leaves. Our tune-up deals with those data bottlenecks first by hardware tweaks to gain performance in the communication between the CPU and the memory and the hard drive. With the right adjustments a 5% increase in hardware performance is common and will be significant in the overall gain. The danger in hardware tweaks can be severe if you don't know what you're doing, for example if you increase the speed of the memory beyond safe operation you could cause a motherboard crash or blue screens and an unstable operating system. So a lot of care must be taken to squeeze performance out of your hardware without causing more problems than you started with. As far as software is concerned, the operating system is where you gain performance, by creating a streamlined environment in which your programs can run at peak performance. There many little things done that when combined restore and even improve how data flows through your hardware. Here are just a few of the optimizing techniques we use to give new life to your slowing PC
These are just a few of the things that are done to bring back that lost performance, and there are several hours of both attended and unattended work in the list above. Don't be fooled by someone who says a thorough tuneup "only takes a few minutes", or can be accomplished by running a program you've see advertised on TV.
